Holocaust Memorial Day<br />
New Faces needed for Carnival’s Future<br />
The future of the carnival could be under threat due to a lack of new members.<br />
The commiee is urgently seeking new members following a number of resignaons last<br />
year and the death of town councillor David Shaw recently which has le the group<br />
depleted.<br />
Everything has been put in place to run the carnival this year on 27th May but concern has<br />
been raised for subsequent years.<br />

Katy Carr, storyteller Vanessa Woolfe and<br />
Wychavon District Council Chairman<br />
Richard Morris.<br />
The workshop was designed to raise<br />
awareness of the Holocaust. A total of 30<br />
students aended. The day consisted of<br />
storytelling, a film showing ‘Kazik and the<br />
Kommander’s Car’, a group discussion<br />
about the film and a live performance from<br />
Katy Carr of the song wrien for the film.<br />
The film tells the story of a young Polish<br />
boy scout who managed to escape<br />
Auschwitz in Rudolph Hess’ car.<br />

District Council said “We were really<br />
fortunate to be able to get such<br />
disnguished arsts in Katy and Vanessa to<br />
help us commemorate Holocaust Memorial<br />
Day and bring Kazik’s story of life.<br />
Colin Shepherd stated “We are very low on members at the moment and will run this year’s<br />
carnival on limited numbers. We would welcome anyone who is interested in the carnival<br />
and has the event at heart to join us”.<br />
Fund raising events for this year’s carnival have been organised to help funds.<br />
The commiee has announced BBC anques expert Henry Sandon will be making a special<br />
visit to the town on Friday 8th <strong>March</strong>.<br />
Held at <strong>Pershore</strong> Town Football Club, starng at 7pm, Mr Sandon will talk about his life and<br />
will value visitors anques. Tickets cost £5.00 and the event will include a bar and<br />
refreshments.<br />

Celebrates her 100th<br />
Birthday<br />
Mrs Jones, a former Secretary from the<br />
late 1940’s unl her rerement in 1977,<br />
celebrated her 100th birthday and<br />
received a visit from former colleagues,<br />
Shelia Smith and Sue Jeavons. Visitors<br />
also included Head Girl, Beth Goode and<br />
Jamie Smith along with Bethany Ireland.<br />
