<strong>Pershore</strong> Swimmers enjoy the races<br />
<strong>Pershore</strong> swimmers enjoyed the best ever<br />
results at this year’s County (Hereford &<br />
Worcester) Swimming Championship.<br />
From the first of three weekends their<br />
medal haul so far is their first overall<br />
County Championship trophy, seven<br />
County Age Group Championship records,<br />
thirty placing medals with eighteen of<br />
them gold, nine silver and three bronze,<br />
placing the <strong>Pershore</strong> club amongst the<br />
elite of the two Counes, and yet is only a<br />
quarter to half of the size of other clubs.<br />
Forty personal bests were achieved from<br />
59 swims.<br />
Only two months following her thirteenth<br />
birthday Tazmin Pugh was on the winning<br />
trail taking seven age group tles in the 13<br />
year age division in the 50m Back (31.26)<br />
and Buerfly (30.08), 100m Back (1.07.86)<br />
and Buerfly 100m (1.08.32) and 400m IM<br />
(5.19.87) and 200m Freestyle<br />
(2.12.62). In taking these tles<br />
Tazmin also climbed to 1 st in the<br />
UK end of year rankings in the 50m Fly,<br />
2 nd in the 50m Back; 3 rd in both the 100m<br />
Fly and 100m IM and 9 th in both the 400m<br />
IM and 200m Freestyle. With over 3,000<br />
swimmers in the girls 13 year age group<br />
compeng throughout Great Britain they<br />
are impressive figures.<br />
Tazmin’s task was made slightly easier<br />
with her main competor also from<br />
<strong>Pershore</strong> <strong>High</strong>. Issy Griffiths remaining on<br />
a training programme at her elite club<br />
‘City of Birmingham’ as she qualified for<br />
800m and 1500m in the Brish Gas Trials<br />
for an Internaonal Meet in Leeds on 9<br />
and 10 th <strong>March</strong>.<br />
Tazmin also broke four County Age Group<br />
Records in the 50m Back and Fly and<br />
100m Back and Fly and in fact only<br />
narrowly missing breaking two more in the<br />
100m and 400m Individual Medley records<br />
by 0.08 and 0.06 seconds.<br />
Tazmin’s successful weekend didn’t end<br />
there as being in the top eight of all the<br />
ladies present Tazmin also made 4 of the<br />
Open Finals usually being the domain of<br />
girls aged 16 and over. She took a Bronze<br />
County Championship tle medal in the<br />
50m Backstroke Final and silver in the<br />
100m Fly. Tazmin kept her best<br />
performance of the weekend for the very<br />
last Open Final, however, when she<br />
stormed to an excing victory in the 50m<br />
Fly to a new personal best and climbing to<br />
1 st in the UK rankings being the 15 th best of<br />
all me in Great Britain.<br />
Tazmin Pugh to compete in World <strong>School</strong>s Biathlon<br />
National Finals<br />
Tazmin and Harry are due to compete in<br />
the World <strong>School</strong>s Biathlon Naonal Finals<br />
at Crystal Palace in late <strong>March</strong>.<br />
final. In the Naonal Inter‐county<br />
Team Gala she was the top 12 year old<br />
girl in the 100m backstroke and second<br />
in the 100m buerfly.<br />
U13 Netball Team District<br />
Champions<br />
The rankings have been made aer the<br />
results from the semi‐finals of the<br />
competon organised by Pentathlon GB.<br />
Tazmin, 12 years old, has been ranked 2nd<br />
out of 178 entrants in the event.<br />
Tazmin helped by a Joanna Brown Trust<br />
grant has been able to compete into the<br />
biathlon for the first me.<br />
She achieved four qualifying mes in the<br />
Naonal Age Group Championships last<br />
year and was eighth in the 100m buerfly<br />

<strong>Pershore</strong> swimmers gain best ever results in Hereford & Worcester Championship<br />
Just finishing outside of podium posion in<br />
the mul event qualifiers were Lizzie Vizard<br />
and Ella Spencer. Tazmin Pugh began her<br />
events with determinaon, and she won<br />
eleven Golds and three Silver medals. She<br />
achieved the following mes: 50m Back<br />
(31.26) and Buerfly (30.08), 100m Back<br />
(1.07.86) and Buerfly 100m (1.08.32) and<br />
400m IM (5.19.87), 200m Freestyle<br />
(2.12.62), 400m free (4.43.77 & 4 th in UK<br />
eyr), 50m free (29.04 & 10 th UK eyr), 200m<br />
IM (2.33.65 & 10 th eyr), and 200m back<br />
(2.24.91 & 5 th in UK eyr).<br />
Tazmin has climbed to 1 st in the UK end<br />
of year rankings in the 50m Fly; 2 nd in<br />
the 50m back; 3 rd in both the 100m Fly<br />
and 100m IM; 5 th in the 200m Back and<br />
9 th in both the 400m IM and 200m<br />
Freestyle. Tazmin also broke five County<br />

the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke<br />

finished the compeon by being in the<br />
top eight from all the competors<br />
present and geng a personal best in<br />
the 50m Fly. She is now 1 st in the UK<br />
rankings, being 15 th best of all me in<br />

Meet Trials in Leeds<br />
<strong>Pershore</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s other top<br />
swimmer Isobel Griffiths who trains with<br />
City of Birmingham club. She competed<br />
in her 13 year age group for the 1500m<br />
and 2 nd in the 800m. Jake Spencer and<br />
Josh Lane were two more of the<br />
competors who qualified in seven<br />
events.<br />
