Year 11 Revision/Catch Up Sessions A number of extra sessions have been organised for students in Year 11 in the run up to the summer examinaons. These will take place on the days listed below; some students will be expected to aend and parents will be informed by leer if this is the case. Other students may choose to aend but should let their subject teachers know. From February to May we will offer a late minibus service on Tuesdays aer school. The minibus will be driven by one of the caretakers and he will check with the English, Business Studies and Geography departments if there is anyone in their aer school sessions who requires the late minibus. School Nurse Service The school health service hours and appointments have changed. Sara Stainforth, the school nurse, is now in on Mondays. To make an appointment, see main recepon/tutor/HoH. Appointments will run from 10am – 1.20pm. An addional service is a drop‐in session from 1.20‐2.10pm in the Conference Room by the Library (no appointment necessary). This could be for any health related reason and will be treated in confidence. Time 4 U Time 4 U offer a drop‐in service on Thursday lunchmes in the sports pavilion to students from Year 9 and above and to 6 th form students only on Thursdays from 12.20‐1.20pm. This service is confidenal and independent and offers advice on a range of issues such as relaonship advice, stress, bullying and sexual health. Art and Photography Young Photographer of the Year 2013 Competition A number of photographs taken by our students had been selected by the Beacon Camera Club for their Young Photographer of the Year 2013 compeon. Students from Mr Reeves very popular Photography Club, our Photography 'A' level students and the wider school community sent in a record amount of entries. Five students have been shortlisted as finalists and work will be displayed at the awards event on Wednesday 13 th March. The lucky students are Tessa Carr (Year 9), Rebecca Hancock (Year 12), Chris Bleakney, Elliot Mann and Isobel Woolley (Year 13). Good luck to all involved and if you have been unsuccessful this year do not be down hearted try again next year. Happy Snapping. The Photography team. Mr Reeves Ofsted Parent View As you will know from the leer we received from Ofsted last year we are expecng an Ofsted inspecon before the end of the summer term. At the announcement of the inspecon Ofsted will ask you to complete an online survey using their website Parent View. However, this can be done in advance and your views will be added to those collected at the me of the inspecon. You need to register an email address and you are then able to complete a short survey. The quesons are very similar to those that we ask you to complete at Parents’ Evenings. It would be very helpful to the school if each parent could take a few minutes to sign up to the Parent View site and then complete the survey. The link to the website is: hp:// parentview.ofsted.gov.uk and there is a link to it on the informaon page of our website. hp://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/link‐to‐us School Uniform Change from September 2013 Following consultaon with students through their House councils, there is to be a change to the school’s uniform regulaons from September 2013. From the start of the next academic year, only one type of skirt will be acceptable for female students. The required skirt is a Luton (Black), with the reference number 3598. The cost for a skirt up to a 22” waist will be £12.95p and £15.25p for a skirt up to a 28” waist. The price increase is due to VAT, with the laer considered to be an adult size. The skirt can be sourced from either School Togs in Worcester or The School Shop in Evesham. As before, girls may also wear plain black straight‐legged trousers sold as school wear (polyester/wool). Trousers must not be denim or cord. Flares, harem and ght‐fing trousers are not permied. This change has become necessary as there is such a variance in skirts sold as ‘school wear’. Despite our policy stang that skirts should be black and not jersey, lycra or stretch, and around knee length, a significant proporon of current skirts worn do not adhere to these criteria yet have been sold as ‘school wear’. The students have had an input into the uniform skirt idenfied and we know that many are happy with the style chosen. We are informing you of this change now as many of you may be starng to make plans for next year’s uniform, or indeed buying uniform now which is ancipated to last over a significant period of me and certainly into the next academic year. The Youth Council has rescheduled the Quiz from Friday 22nd March to Friday 26th April, 6.30 to 8.15pm in the Main Hall Teams of up to 10 people £20 to enter a team 1st prize = £80.00 2nd prize = £20.00 FoPHS Easter Bingo Thank you to all the students, parents and staff for supporng a successful event.
