Magistrates’ Mock Trial Competition <strong>2013</strong><br />
<strong>Pershore</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> once again put up a<br />
strong showing in this year’s Key Stage<br />
Three Magistrates’ Mock Trial<br />
Compeon held at Worcester<br />
Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 16 th<br />
<strong>March</strong>.<br />
Students were acng as the Prosecuon<br />
against St Egwins CE Middle <strong>School</strong> and<br />
as the Defence against Aston Fields<br />
Middle <strong>School</strong> in the case of R. v<br />
Cruickshank. In the ficonal case used<br />
by all competors, the defendant,<br />
Morgan Cruickshank, was charged jointly<br />
with Tom and Jane Low, of assaulng<br />
David Jones by beang him on Sunday<br />
the 23 rd December 2012, contrary to<br />
Secon 39 of the Criminal Jusce Act<br />
1988.<br />
offered by Mrs Rees from PHS, Mrs Helen<br />
Povey (Local Magistrate) and Mr Mark<br />
Anderson (Solicitor – Public Defender<br />
Service) for their expert insights.<br />
Although no individual or team prizes were<br />
won on this occasion, the students<br />
competed admirably throughout the day.<br />
All students were presented with<br />
cerficates for their efforts. Elizabeth’s art<br />
work has been sent to the naonal<br />
organisers for judging and we are currently<br />
awaing the results.<br />

Having rehearsed for a number of weeks,<br />
the students performed very well under<br />
the pressure of the compeon held in<br />
the actual court rooms. The students<br />
were very grateful for the support<br />

Frank Richardson’s photographs shown below have been placed on the Railway‐centre<br />
website. The top two photographs were featured as photographs of the day on two<br />
occasions within the same month on the Railway‐centre website. The two<br />
winning photographs are of a steam train, taken at Cholsey Manor Farm Bridge, Didcot<br />
and shown right a Colas Rail Freight Class 56 is seen passing Croome Perry Wood near<br />
Besford in Worcestershire.<br />
