I s s u e N o . 6 P a g e 6 Year 12 Formal We celebrated one last time with the Class of 2012 at the Year 12 Formal at Melrose Reception Centre on Wednesday 28th November. All students looked elegant and very grown up. It was a great night involving lovely food and lots of dancing! Good luck Class of 2012! As part of the Senior VCAL Transition program, students attended Sunshine Hospital for an induction tour with Jo Spence. She explained the volunteering opportunities on offer and the ideas for community projects for 2013. Students were able to see parts of the hospital and listen to hospital staff detail the programs Year 12 Transition that students can be involved in as part of their PDS work next year. Jo Spence showing students around Sunshine Hospital during Year 12 Transition Week Gardening Project For our year 11 Community VCAL project, Ron, Duke and I, Tony, decided to do gardening, and spent several Monday mornings with Ms Shona Gilchrist, our Gardener, working in the gardens of the Delahey Campus. We shovelled bark, soil and used wheelbarrows, shovels and spades. We dug holes and planted new shrubs and flowers under instructions. We hope to have improved our environment here at Delahey. I s s u e N o . 6 P a g e 7 Year 11 – 12 Transition - VCE and Senior VCAL VCE Students at Melbourne University Friday 23rd November saw the beginning of the Year 11 – 12 Transition. VCE students went to Melbourne University and heard some very positive and inspiring speakers who talked about study, University life and working to achieve goals. It was a very successful day and, as always, <strong>Copperfield</strong> students were outstanding ambassadors for the <strong>College</strong>. The transition program has continued at school, with students having the opportunity to experience each of their subjects and begin the work for Unit 3 studies VCAL Students working on Planning. VCAL Students participated in an induction tour of Sunshine Hospital hosted by Jo Spence. Students were introduced to the hospital's volunteer program and the opportunities on offer for their Community Projects for Senior PDS. This was followed by a launch on campus on Monday. There was also a quick trip to Brimbank Park for some team building and communication activities. There has been a very positive feeling around the Campus with students quite focused on their subjects and learning about the requirements for next year. We look forward to working with the class of 2013 next year. Jude Ryan & Mara Aleardi Campus Leaders Careers Information 1. VCE Results and ATAR’s will be available on Monday 17 th December. 2. VTAC APPLICATIONS: VTAC is open and you can change your preferences until Monday 24 December at 12.00 Midday. When applying for courses through VTAC put down both university and TAFE options. Remember that if you hope to study at university but miss out on a place, you can gain credits for university from a relevant TAFE course. Two years at TAFE often gives one year of credit (sometimes more) at university in a related course. RMIT, VU and Swinburne are both a university and a TAFE and other Universities have links with TAFE (eg La Trobe with NMIT), making it easier to move 3. REMINDERS – School Staff will be at school to assist you until with change of preference until Thursday 20 th December. CHANGE OF PREFERENCE (COP) ASSISTANCE – VTAC Change of Preference closes 24 December at 12 NOON Universities and TAFEs will have staff available to assist you till at least Fri 21 Dec (some till Mon 24th).
