7.6 Transit Services
The City of Oviedo is currently served by one transit route (Link 47) that provides
access between UCF, the Oviedo Marketplace, the 419/426 corridor, and Seminole
Community College. For various reasons, this route consistently ranks among the
lowest performing routes in the entire Lynx transit system. The performance of the
current route should not discourage the City from embracing transit as a means for
providing improved mobility for citizens within the City. One of the major underlying
reasons for the poor transit performance is due to the long headways, or time periods
between buses along the route, the orientation of the route, and the low-density
development pattern along much of the route despite the fact that it serves major
destination such as the Seminole Community College, UCF, and the Oviedo
Marketplace.
The plan recommends restructuring existing transit service into two routes between
UCF to the Community College to the Oviedo Marketplace along the Lockwood
