<strong>The</strong> VASP is distinguished from <strong>the</strong>se previous<br />

projects by its smaller scope and remit, its operation<br />

in ano<strong>the</strong>r set <strong>of</strong> school contexts and its focus on<br />

ga<strong>the</strong>ring more evidence on <strong>the</strong> impacts <strong>of</strong> effective<br />

values education.<br />

Additionally, during 2008, <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Education</strong>, Employment and Workplace Relations<br />

funded a research project <strong>to</strong> test <strong>the</strong> findings <strong>of</strong><br />

earlier projects, especially <strong>the</strong> VEGPSP. This study<br />

(Lovat et al 2009b) confirmed earlier findings that<br />

values education has potential <strong>to</strong> impact positively<br />

on a number <strong>of</strong> indica<strong>to</strong>rs, including teacher–<br />

student relationships, school ambience, student<br />

wellbeing and student academic diligence.<br />
