<strong>The</strong> significant impact <strong>of</strong> this learning opportunity on students was described by one teacher involved in <strong>the</strong><br />

production <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ‘Lovin’ It’ video. In relation <strong>to</strong> one disengaged student, Sam, <strong>the</strong> teacher commented that:<br />

…during <strong>the</strong> community phase <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> project where students wrote, sang, danced and recorded <strong>the</strong>ir ‘Lovin’<br />

it’ song, Sam enthusiastically volunteered <strong>to</strong> accept singing and dancing roles and if I think back two years,<br />

<strong>the</strong>re’d be no way in <strong>the</strong> world he would ever consider engaging with something like that. Sam, and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

students from <strong>the</strong> ‘at risk’ group, has demonstrated increased levels <strong>of</strong> academic engagement and social<br />

Figure 6 from <strong>the</strong> post-project survey shows a strong movement away from teachers’ initial perceptions in<br />

<strong>the</strong> pre-project survey in relation <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> question: ‘How do students in your school act on <strong>the</strong>ir values’ It is<br />

interesting <strong>to</strong> note <strong>the</strong> strong trend from ‘sometimes’ and ‘unsure’ <strong>to</strong> ‘always’ and ‘<strong>of</strong>ten’. Fur<strong>the</strong>r, it is worth<br />

noting that this trend has occurred for every item on this question.<br />
