Youth <strong>Voice</strong>: Fostering Inclusiveness, Respect and Tolerance<br />

In this project, students worked <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>to</strong> produce a unique<br />

student voice magazine that aimed <strong>to</strong> promote positive self-image,<br />

inclusiveness, <strong>to</strong>lerance and respect for o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />

Improving Teacher Practice through <strong>Values</strong> <strong>Education</strong><br />

Student learning, both academic and social–emotional, will improve<br />

if <strong>the</strong> relationship between teacher and student is strong, respectful<br />

and trusting. This project was based on <strong>the</strong> premise that improved<br />

teaching practice impacts positively on student learning. Teacher<br />

master classes focused on building teacher skill and commitment<br />

<strong>to</strong> values education.<br />

Living and Growing Our <strong>Values</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong> Palmers<strong>to</strong>n <strong>Values</strong> Cluster sought <strong>to</strong> identify a pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

learning community <strong>of</strong> teachers <strong>to</strong> implement an action learning<br />

project focusing on explicitly embedding values in<strong>to</strong> literacy with a<br />

specific emphasis on narrative s<strong>to</strong>rytelling. Teachers focused on <strong>the</strong><br />

values <strong>of</strong> respect and responsibility, both within school and more<br />

broadly in <strong>the</strong> community.<br />

<strong>Values</strong> in Action: Building Resilience and Inclusion<br />

This innovative project sought <strong>to</strong> improve <strong>the</strong> way schools report <strong>to</strong><br />

parents and <strong>the</strong> community about <strong>the</strong> behaviours and attitudes <strong>of</strong><br />

students by developing <strong>to</strong>ols <strong>to</strong> assess values in <strong>the</strong> naturalistic<br />

setting <strong>of</strong> everyday activities at school.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Values</strong> Exchange<br />

This project explored values education through social and global<br />

issues via a blend <strong>of</strong> face-<strong>to</strong>-face and innovative virtual experiences.<br />

Learning and Acting for Poverty<br />

In this project, Year 5 <strong>to</strong> 8 students under<strong>to</strong>ok an investigation in<strong>to</strong><br />

poverty, its causes and consequences in <strong>the</strong> contemporary world.<br />

<strong>The</strong> project focus provided a meaningful and au<strong>the</strong>ntic conduit for<br />

<strong>the</strong> explicit teaching and modelling <strong>of</strong> values.<br />

Connecting Communities<br />

Students need a shared values-base and social and negotiation skills<br />

<strong>to</strong> navigate an increasingly complicated world. This project deployed<br />

a variety <strong>of</strong> student-centred inquiries connecting in real and<br />

meaningful ways with <strong>the</strong>ir communities.<br />
