P3 - IOSC - INTERNATIONAL OPERATORS SUPPORT CONFERENCE
P-3 IOSC
International
Operators
Support
Conference
The P-3 International Operators Support
Conference (IOSC) is the world’s single
most important meeting for operators and
maintainers of the P-3/CP-140 aircraft. P-3
IOSC represents Lockheed Martin's equal
commitment to the sustainability of the P-3
and to those who operate it.
This Lockheed Martin-sponsored event
brings the entire P-3/CP-140 family
together at one time, in one place, to share
common concerns and successes.
Lockheed Martin has been putting on
the P-3 IOSC since 1988, as a forum in
which operators of this aircraft can share
information on new modifications, as well
as technical and maintenance issues, and
possible solutions to these and other issues
related to sustaining a valuable air asset
that has been in operation for over four
decades.
The conference also allows interested
parties, contractors, and vendors the
opportunity to present the P-3/CP-140
community with briefings on information
that may provide solutions to current issues
facing one or more P-3/CP-140 operators.
In addition, attendees to the P-3 IOSC are
able to attend breakout sessions that cover
three significant areas of interest:
airframe/structure/mechanical issues,
avionics/mission issues, and supply/logistics
issues.
At P-3 IOSC 2009, most of the briefings
and other discussions seemed to relate to
one particular issue of concern to the P-3
community: that of diminishing sources of
material supply (DSMS), which is a constant
problem for operators of a 40-year-old
aircraft. This issue was discussed extensively
in a brief given by Ric Loeslein with Naval
