LANGSTER
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART As pure a bike as you’ll ever find,
the Langster likes fast friends.
CLEARLY A BIKE WITH ONE GEAR and no brakes is not for the faint of heart. That’s OK, though, because you’re not worried about
spinning it out down the backside of a small roller or having a little water splash up off the back tire. You’re more worried about the
hum a properly tuned fixed-gear bike makes when brought up to speed, the roller-coaster-gone-off-the-tracks feeling of dropping
down the banking with a lap to go, or cranking past fellow riders on a shallow climb.
NIC SIMS Athlete and Product Support
As the person responsible for assembling all prototype and
early-production bikes, Athlete and Product Support manager Nic Sims
is definitely where the rubber hits the road at Specialized. A vital
team member for more than 15 years, this Teddington, England
native is hard to pin down when it comes to his favorite type
of riding. “I am lucky that I live near Santa Cruz, California,
which has an amazing number of great road and mountain
bike rides,” says Nic. “So I wouldn’t say that I have
a favorite place—any day I can ride is a great day.”
