or camp. If a safety committee already exists, CCPOA shall have one<br />

representative on that committee.<br />

D. Any employee designated by CCPOA as representative to the Health and Safety<br />

Committee shall suffer no loss of regular pay as a result of attendance at such<br />

meetings; however, no overtime compensation will be paid. Normally, meetings<br />

will be scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.<br />

E. Meetings of the Health and Safety Committee shall be held a minimum of once<br />

each quarter, with a goal of meeting once each month, upon receipt of written<br />

agenda items from any committee member. Agenda items shall be delivered or<br />

mailed, at least five (5) days prior to the meeting day, to the<br />

Warden/Superintendent/CDC Regional Administrator, or his/her designee.<br />

F. The Warden/Superintendent/CDC Regional Administrator, or his/her designee<br />

shall serve as chairperson of the Health and Safety Committee, and be responsible<br />

for scheduling meeting dates, times, and locations.<br />

G. The Health and Safety Committee shall meet, identify and discuss safety issues,<br />

make recommendations, promote safety and encourage all employees to be more<br />

safety conscious. Security is an appropriate topic of discussion if it impacts on<br />

employee safety.<br />

H. It is understood that references to safety and health conditions of work are not<br />

intended to include those hazards and risks which are an ordinary characteristic of<br />

the work or are reasonably associated with the performance of an employee's<br />

responsibilities and duties. It is not the intent of this section to prevent full<br />

discussion of proposed remedies to any safety hazard or risk which is an ordinary<br />

characteristic of the work or is ordinarily associated with the performance of an<br />

employee's responsibilities and duties. This shall include the opportunity of either<br />

party to discuss those Health and Safety grievances which cite concerns other than<br />

a clear and present danger.<br />

I. If minutes of the Safety Committee meeting are taken, a copy shall be provided to<br />

the CCPOA representative on the Committee.<br />

J. The Health and Safety Committee shall, at its regularly scheduled meetings,<br />

review and make recommendations for the responses to safety grievances referred<br />

to it. Recommendations to the second level reviewers of the Health and Safety<br />

grievance procedure shall be within a reasonable period of time, but not to exceed<br />

thirty (30) days from the initial review of the Committee.<br />

K. The State shall familiarize all members of the Health and Safety Committee with<br />

SB-198.<br />

7.02 Emergency Care<br />

A. Whenever an employee receives an on-the-job injury, or becomes seriously ill and<br />

requires immediate attention, the employer shall make his/her best efforts to<br />

immediately obtain or provide appropriate first-aid or medical care. If immediate<br />

hospitalization is required, the State shall take the employee to the nearest<br />

hospital facility which is able to render the appropriate treatment and care in the<br />

most expeditious means available.
