Muscle Transposition in Strabismus
Surgery

Objective: This course aims to perform the ophthalmologists
specialised in strabismology to perform all the advanced
surgical procedures of muscle transposition used in difficult
strabismus cases
Summary of Contents: This course contains the different types
of muscle transposition with the indication and method of each;
transposition of horizontal rect for A and V pattern, Horizontal
recti transposition for correction of additional vertical strabismus,
vertical recti transposition for torsional strabismus,Y
splitting of the Lateral rect in Duane syndrome with upshoot,
Knapp, Jenssen and Hummelsheim procedures for a paralysed
and for a lost muscle, and finally the graded Inferior Oblique
muscle transposition. Techniques are shown by animation.
Objective: To discuss the management options available for the
treatment of refractory glaucomas through the presentation of
representative difficult cases.
Summary of Content: Management of intractable glaucomas
such as neovascular glaucoma, glaucoma following vitreoretinal
surgery, glaucoma following penetrating Keratoplasty,
malignant glaucoma as well as glaucoma associated with
keratoprostheses remains a challenge to the glaucoma surgeon.
Management of these problems has shifted from the use of
cyclodestructive procedures, to the use of drainage devices
which is the current treatment of choice in most situations.
We plan to present 4 representative case scenarios of the
various subtypes of refractory glaucomas and discuss the
problems in diagnosis, surgical treatment and expected
complications in each case.
