Muscle Transposition in Strabismus<br />

Objective: This course aims to perform the ophthalmologists<br />

specialised in strabismology to perform all the advanced<br />

surgical procedures of muscle transposition used in difficult<br />

strabismus cases<br />

Summary of Contents: This course contains the different types<br />

of muscle transposition with the indication and method of each;<br />

transposition of horizontal rect for A and V pattern, Horizontal<br />

recti transposition for correction of additional vertical strabismus,<br />

vertical recti transposition for torsional strabismus,Y<br />

splitting of the Lateral rect in Duane syndrome with upshoot,<br />

Knapp, Jenssen and Hummelsheim procedures for a paralysed<br />

and for a lost muscle, and finally the graded Inferior Oblique<br />

muscle transposition. Techniques are shown by animation.<br />

Objective: To discuss the management options available for the<br />

treatment of refractory glaucomas through the presentation of<br />

representative difficult cases.<br />

Summary of Content: Management of intractable glaucomas<br />

such as neovascular glaucoma, glaucoma following vitreoretinal<br />

surgery, glaucoma following penetrating Keratoplasty,<br />

malignant glaucoma as well as glaucoma associated with<br />

keratoprostheses remains a challenge to the glaucoma surgeon.<br />

Management of these problems has shifted from the use of<br />

cyclodestructive procedures, to the use of drainage devices<br />

which is the current treatment of choice in most situations.<br />

We plan to present 4 representative case scenarios of the<br />

various subtypes of refractory glaucomas and discuss the<br />

problems in diagnosis, surgical treatment and expected<br />

complications in each case.<br />
