3D Stereotactic Anatomy Course

Stereo Anatomy of Orbit, Eyelid and Lacrimal System from
the Surgeon's Perspective
Synopsis: A comprehensive review of orbital, eyelid, and
lacrimal system anatomy using projected stereo images of
meticulous cadaveric dissections. Specific emphasis will be
placed upon surgical approaches and complications.
Objectives: To reacquaint course participants with the anatomy
of the orbit/ocular adnexa, and to increase their confidence
when operating in these areas.
Introduction: To gain familiarity with the anatomy of the orbit
and ocular adnexae verbal description and cross section
illustrations are inadequate. Three dimensional images of
dissections offer a unique way of appreciating structural
relationships, whithout the segmentation of continuous units
inherent in cross sections. We present a series of such stereo
images, from a viewpoint of the surgeon needing to know her
or his way around the region.
