Changes within <strong>the</strong> Department for Work <strong>and</strong> Pensions<br />

<strong>DWP</strong> agencies <strong>and</strong> sections featured in this<br />

publication are:<br />

• Jobcentre Plus<br />

• Child Support Agency<br />

• The Pension Service<br />

• Disability <strong>and</strong> Carers Service<br />

• Debt Management<br />

• Child Benefit Branch<br />

In April 2003 responsibility for <strong>the</strong> administration<br />

of child benefit transferred <strong>from</strong> <strong>DWP</strong> to <strong>the</strong> Inl<strong>and</strong><br />

Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs).<br />

In July 2007 <strong>the</strong> remit of <strong>the</strong> Independent Case<br />

Examiner was extended to cover all of <strong>DWP</strong>’s<br />

customer facing businesses. The Ombudsman<br />

welcomed <strong>and</strong> supported this development.<br />

In April 2008 The Pension Service <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Disability<br />

<strong>and</strong> Carers Service became <strong>the</strong> Pension, Disability<br />

<strong>and</strong> Carers Service, a new executive agency of <strong>DWP</strong>.<br />

In November 2008 <strong>the</strong> Child Support Agency<br />

became part of <strong>the</strong> Child Maintenance <strong>and</strong><br />

Enforcement Commission, a new non-departmental<br />

public body.<br />
