10 month resident SAMS provides the Army and other services with<br />
specially educated officers in the operational art and<br />
doctrine for command and general staff positions at<br />
tactical and operational echelons.<br />

The Pre-Command Course provides leader<br />
development to command teams, commanders<br />
(lieutenant colonel and colonel), command sergeants<br />
major, and spouses for battalion and brigade levels<br />
of command.<br />
The Army senior level education for developing<br />
strategic leaders is the U.S. Army War College.<br />
b. DA Pam 600-3 describes the Army WO as a self-aware and adaptive technical expert,<br />
combat leader, trainer, and advisor. Through progressive levels of expertise in assignments,<br />
training, and education, the WO administers, manages, maintains, operates, and integrates Army<br />
systems and equipment across full-spectrum operations. WOs are innovative integrators of<br />
emerging technologies, dynamic teachers, confident warfighters, and developers of specialized<br />
teams of Soldiers. Training and education for WOs follows a unique set of courses for<br />
development at key points in their career.<br />

WOBC prepares newly appointed officers for their<br />
first duty assignments and all subsequent assignments<br />
as WO1s and/or chief WO (CW) 2s. The course must<br />
be completed within 2 years of appointment.<br />
AODC is completed online via the Internet, and<br />
provides WOs serving in CW2 or higher duty<br />
positions relevant training in organization and<br />
management techniques, communication skills,<br />
preparing and staffing documents, conducting<br />
meetings and interviews, problem solving, time<br />
management, writing, coordinating activities, and<br />
ethics. The course must be completed within 1 year.<br />
WOAC focuses on advanced technical training and<br />
common leader development subjects designed to<br />
prepare officers for assignment in CW3 level<br />
positions. The WOAC consists of nonresident and<br />
resident training.<br />
