blended learning<br />
Combines face-to-face classroom methods with technology delivered instruction that can be<br />
delivered either in a resident or nonresident environment to form an integrated instructional<br />
approach.<br />
campaign of learning<br />
An integrating process that focuses learning on critical operational issues, identifies for the<br />
community priority army warfighting challenges and questions to be answered, reduces<br />
unnecessary redundancies across learning activities (with joint, capabilities needs assessments,<br />
studies, wargames, and others), be adaptable to support quick-turn assessments, and adopt senior<br />
leader investment and approval.<br />
capabilities based assessment<br />
The Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System analysis process; answers several<br />
key questions for the validation authority prior to their approval: define the mission; identify<br />
capabilities required; determine the attributes and standards of the capabilities; identify gaps;<br />
assess operational risk associated with the gaps; prioritize the gaps; identify and assess potential<br />
nonmateriel solutions; provide recommendations for addressing the gaps.<br />

The dispersion or distribution of functions and powers, specifically the delegation of power from<br />
a central authority to regional and local authorities; process of dispersing decisionmaking<br />

distributed learning<br />
Delivery of standardized individual, collective, and self-development training to soldiers and DA<br />
civilians, units, and organizations at the right place and time through the use of multiple means<br />
and technology; may involve student-instructor interaction in real time (for example, via twoway<br />
audio and video television) and non-real time (for example, via computer-based training).<br />
