How many hours of extra-curricular activities will I have to undertake?<br />

You will be expected to undertake 70 hours. 40 hours must be undertaken abroad, this can be study,<br />

volunteering or work. <strong>The</strong> other activities can be UK/home based but must evidence multicultural/multi-lingual<br />

working.<br />

How many hours per week am I expected to commit to?<br />

It’s to your discretion.<br />

What counts as “extra-curricular” activities?<br />

Refer to the Activities Grid in this booklet.<br />

Why are some hours capped?<br />

Some activities do not fully develop your skills as the work is repetitive in nature, you may also struggle<br />

drawing on strong, relevant examples for applications. This includes bar work, hospitality, retail, note<br />

taking and blogging, for example. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Award</strong> wants to give you a wealth of skills and experiences so<br />

you can fully articulate your skills to employers.<br />

How do I record my activities?<br />

For each activity and skill session you need to complete an Activity Record Form.<br />

Recording hours and activities is straightforward and self-explanatory. E.g.:<br />

If you are working over the summer or on a placement year you don’t need to record your hours, just<br />
