Award Requirements:
Extra-Curricular Hours Guidance
This gives you an idea of the sort of activities you can use to complete your 70 hours.
Some activities are capped; consult the last column for details. Remember:
• You must undertake a minimum of 2 activities.
• At least one of your activities must be undertaken abroad.
• You must undertake a minimum of 40 hours of activities abroad.
• You must complete 70 hours in total.
• You can claim 50% of your hours from course-based work experience programmes (if on a
placement year – counting hours is not needed for this activity, as you will easily exceed the 70
hours!).
• This is not an exhaustive list; it has been developed to give you an idea of what can be included.
• If you are involved an activity at home that is not listed then the general rule is: if you are
actively involved in a project as a volunteer, or are paid to complete a task then it will count
providing you are working in multi-cultural teams.
• Do ask the Award team/mentors if you are unsure.
