In 2008, the headcount rose from 8,121
to 8,237. The workforce mainly increased
in Plastics Converting, through the
acquisition of Nyloplast in the Netherlands
and the ongoing development of the
Eurocell activities in Great-Britain. This
rise largely exceeded the slight drop of
the workforce in the other activities of the
group.
Within Chemicals headcount slightly
fell as a result of previously initiated
restructurings. As in Plastics Converting,
the workforce in Specialities increased
due to an acquisition. Additionally, organic
growth of the activities positively influenced
the headcount in Plastics Converting.

policy
The Management Committee is strongly
convinced that high-performing employees
are crucial for success and for achieving
the strategic objectives in a complex and
ever-changing economic context.
To implement this vision in concrete
terms, the HR department has been
developed further at group level and the
roles of Corporate Talent Management,
Compensation & Benefits, and Operational
Design & Development, and HR projects
have been created.
The core mission consists of the following:
• to attract and retain the best available
employees
