Swinburne Sarawak 2009 Course Guide Degree Pathway Programs 15 The Swinburne Sarawak Foundation and Diploma programs are designed to be pathways for students who have not yet achieved the requirements for direct entry into bachelor degree programs. Foundation programs The cost-effective one-year Foundation program develops your competence in English, Mathematics, Information Technology and several other fundamental subjects. As it is conducted entirely on campus and staffed largely by university academics, you will be getting a taste of a real university learning environment even before you have begun your university studies. You have four Foundation programs to choose from. These are the Swinburne Foundation Studies (Business), Swinburne Foundation Studies (Design), Swinburne Foundation Studies (Engineering/Science) and Swinburne Foundation Studies (Information Technology/Multimedia). There are three intakes for Foundation programs. These are in January, March and August. Diploma programs The Swinburne Sarawak Diploma programs are tailored as an alternative pathway to a bachelor degree for students who do not meet the requirements for entry into Foundation programs. The three-year program is conducted on campus, enabling you to experience a real university learning environment. Two Diploma programs are available at Swinburne Sarawak: Diploma of Business and Information Systems, and Diploma of Electronic Engineering. Students who have graduated from these programs will be eligible for exemptions of up to two years in the bachelor degree program of their choice. Exemptions vary for each degree program. While the Diploma programs are designed as an alternative pathway for entry into Swinburne Sarawak’s undergraduate program, they are also recognised as a qualification for career advancement. Students who have completed the Diploma program can opt to start a career in the industry with this qualification.
