Degree Pathway Programs<br />

The <strong>Swinburne</strong> Sarawak<br />
Foundation and Diploma programs<br />
are designed to be pathways for<br />
students who have not yet<br />
achieved the requirements for<br />
direct entry into bachelor degree<br />
programs.<br />
Foundation programs<br />
The cost-effective one-year<br />
Foundation program develops your<br />
competence in English, Mathematics,<br />
Information <strong>Technology</strong> and several<br />
other fundamental subjects.<br />
As it is conducted entirely on campus<br />
and staffed largely by university<br />
academics, you will be getting a taste<br />
<strong>of</strong> a real university learning<br />
environment even before you have<br />
begun your university studies.<br />
You have four Foundation programs to<br />
choose from. These are the <strong>Swinburne</strong><br />
Foundation Studies (Business),<br />
<strong>Swinburne</strong> Foundation Studies<br />
(Design), <strong>Swinburne</strong> Foundation<br />
Studies (Engineering/Science) and<br />
<strong>Swinburne</strong> Foundation Studies<br />
(Information <strong>Technology</strong>/Multimedia).<br />
There are three intakes for Foundation<br />
programs. These are in January,<br />
March and August.<br />
Diploma programs<br />
The <strong>Swinburne</strong> Sarawak Diploma<br />
programs are tailored as an alternative<br />
pathway to a bachelor degree for<br />
students who do not meet the<br />
requirements for entry into Foundation<br />
programs.<br />
The three-year program is conducted<br />
on campus, enabling you to<br />
experience a real university learning<br />
environment.<br />
Two Diploma programs are available at<br />
<strong>Swinburne</strong> Sarawak: Diploma <strong>of</strong><br />
Business and Information Systems,<br />
and Diploma <strong>of</strong> Electronic Engineering.<br />
Students who have graduated from<br />
these programs will be eligible for<br />
exemptions <strong>of</strong> up to two years in the<br />
bachelor degree program <strong>of</strong> their<br />
choice. Exemptions vary for each<br />
degree program.<br />
While the Diploma programs are<br />
designed as an alternative pathway for<br />
entry into <strong>Swinburne</strong> Sarawak’s<br />
undergraduate program, they are also<br />
recognised as a qualification for career<br />
advancement. Students who have<br />
completed the Diploma program can<br />
opt to start a career in the industry<br />
with this qualification.<br />
