Contractors World - Intermat Preview 2
Komatsu Out To Impress At
Intermat 2015
As reported in the last issue of Contractor World
International, “Komatsu Goes Crazy with New Equipment
Launches” there seems to be nothing holding the company
back as it begins the roll out of their new integrated technologically
advanced machines.
Development in technology and the company’s partnership
with Topcon has enabled Komatsu to build in advanced
features instead of them being optional exterior
‘add-ons’ .
At this time, it is the range of excavators and dozers that
are benefitting the most with available intelligence with automatic
bucket placement and blade control for optimum
efficiency with little operator involvement.
Today, in dozing operations, instead of manually setting
the blade, the operator simply inputs the required parameters
on the monitor. All he then needs to do is position
and steer the machine. Accurate dozing pass after pass.
In excavation, similar positioning technology delivers
the precise depth and width of excavations. Invaluable
when trenching as their is no excess material taken out.
The technology in excavators was introduced with the
PC210LC-10 model. Intermat will see the PC240LCi-11 -
the first in a new series introduced alongside a D61li-23
dozer and D37EXipXi dozer.
Appropriate technology will also feature on the company’s
latest in articulated dump trucks and wheel loaders.
Taking Technology to A New Level
Intermat will also see Komatsu’s latest model with hybrid
technology. Owners of existing Komatsu hybrid excavators
quickly discovered that the higher initial investment is soon
recouped in fuel savings.
New PC240LCi-11
This new excavator further illustrates
Komatsu technology and ability to innovate.
The more environmentally
friendly EU Stage IV
Komatsu engine gives up
to 6% improved fuel
efficiency.
The PC240LC-11 maintains the lifting performance and
stability of previous Komatsu models, but with an engine
delivering a net 141 kW (189 HP) @ 2.000 rpm and operating
weights between 24.700 kg and 26.200 kg.
The PC240LC-11 is equipped with the latest KOMTRAX
remote monitoring technology with data access via the web
or via KOMTRAX Mobile on your smart phone. In addition
to providing data such as fuel levels, operating hours, location,
cautions and maintenance alerts, KOMTRAX is further
enhanced to monitor AdBlue levels and KDPF regeneration
and now also provides fuel theft alerts.
A new Operator Identification System reports key operating
information for multiple operators and the new Auto
Idle Shutdown function helps to lower operating costs.
All major components on the new PC240LC-11 including
the engine, hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves are
designed and produced by Komatsu.
Variable Speed Matching allows the engine speed to
adjust based on the hydraulic pump output for both light
and heavy-duty applications. Additional enhancements
have been made within the hydraulic system to reduce hydraulic
loss, resulting in better efficiency.
Operator environment
The cab provides a comfortable and quiet work environment
that helps operators maximize productivity. Proportional
control joysticks are fitted as standard for the precise operation
of attachments. The ROPS certified cab, specifically
designed for hydraulic excavators, gains strength from a reinforced
box structure framework.
A Neutral Detection System further improves safety:
if the work equipment levers are not in a neutral position
when the lock lever is released, the machine is prevented
from any movement.
The operator can easily select up to six working modes
to match machine performance to the application. The
standard rear-view camera gives a wide landscape view of
the area directly behind the machine, and the new monitor
panel’s default screen shows the camera image as well as
gauges. An optional second camera is available.
Big dozer has rough-cut-to-finishgrade
automated efficiency
A star attraction at Intermat will be the new 40,505 kg
(89,300 lb) D155AXi-8, Komatsu’s first intelligent machine
control crawler dozer in this size class, and the newest addition
to the next generation of machine control and dozer
technology.
Jason Anetsberger, product manager-Intelligent
Machine Controls, Komatsu America Corp said:
“The D155AXi-8 is ideal for highway construction
