TUC women’s conference and STUC women’s conference TUC women’s conference On 10-12 March the TUC held its 80th annual women’s conference in the Winter Gardens, Eastbourne, where 253 delegates debated a wide and varied trade union agenda for working women, representing almost 52% of the TUC’s membership. That week was particularly important to trade union and labour movement women, not only for marking 80 years of organisation under the umbrella of the TUC on gender issues and campaigning for women’s rights, but also for marking the 100 year anniversary of International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD is a day of recognition and celebration of the political, social, and economic achievements of women, and the continuous campaign for women’s rights. Whilst at women’s conference, we looked back over history and recognised FBU Annual Report 2011 133
