an architect’s <strong>of</strong>fice, potteries, and a glassworks.<br />
A candle factory now occupies a handsome stone<br />
cowshed that had lain empty for <strong>years</strong>.<br />
There are also two popular restaurants, one on<br />
each side <strong>of</strong> the river: Fiskars Wärdshus and the<br />
Copper Smithy, named after its original function.<br />
The FiskarsForum Conference Center provides<br />
facilities for meetings and seminars in the old<br />
Cutlery Mill beside the river.<br />
A center <strong>of</strong> art and crafts<br />
The first exhibition held by craftsmen, designers,<br />
and artists based in Fiskars in summer 1994 proved<br />
a watershed and established an artistic community<br />
that has gone from strength to strength. The<br />
reputation <strong>of</strong> Fiskars as an artistic venue has grown<br />
steadily since then, and the Artisans, Designers and<br />
Artists <strong>of</strong> Fiskars Cooperative now has 105 members<br />
(2009). Together with their families, its members<br />
