Requirements<br />
for Graduation<br />
Minimum Requirements<br />
A Miriam College Degree is awarded to a student who meets all the following<br />
minimum requirements:<br />
1. Filed an application for graduation on the deadline set by the Registrar’s<br />
office every semester.<br />
2. Residence of at least five (5) semesters and completion of at least 90 units<br />
at Miriam College<br />
3. Completion of the specified requirements in the curriculum in which<br />
the student is enrolled,<br />
4. Minimum CQPA of 2.40 at the end of the last semester at Miriam College<br />
Application forms for graduation can be secured from the College Dean and<br />
Registrar offices.<br />
Honors and Awards<br />
1. Dean’s List<br />
A Quality Point Average of 4.30 with no marks below 2.5 for the semester<br />
is the scholastic requirement for the Dean’s List of honor students. Students<br />
must carry a current load of at least 12 units to be eligible for the Dean’s List.<br />
The list is announced the following semester at the Students’ Assembly where<br />
certificates are given to each student in the list.<br />
2. Honors at Graduation<br />
a. Scholastic Honors<br />
Latin Honors are awarded to students who obtain the following<br />
CQPA at graduation:<br />
Summa Cum Laude 4.8500–5.0000<br />
Magna Cum Laude 4.6000–4.8499<br />
Cum Laude 4.3000–4.5999<br />
The minimum grade requirement in all subjects for the three<br />
Latin Honors is as follows:<br />
Summa Cum Laude Minimum of 3.5<br />
Magna Cum Laude Minimum of 3.0<br />
Cum Laude Minimum of 2.5<br />
For either or both of the following conditions, however, a student<br />
is disqualified for Latin Honors:<br />
if she earned more than 12 units of her graduation requirements from<br />
other schools;<br />
if she finished her course for more than the prescribed number of years.<br />
b. Area Award<br />
The Area Award is given to students who earn the highest major CQPA<br />
of at least 4.30 in the Area with no grade below 3.0 in the major subjects<br />
and below 1.0 in all other subjects. However, a student is disqualified<br />
for an Area Award if she earned more than 12 units of her graduation<br />
requirements from other schools or if she finished her degree program<br />
for more than the prescribed number of years.<br />
c. Meritorious Academic Performance Award<br />
This award is granted to student/s of associate courses who earn<br />
the highest major CQPA of at least 4.30 with no grade below 3.0<br />
in major subjects.<br />
d. Mother Mary Joseph Award<br />
This award is given by the College to graduates who are outstanding<br />
from the point of view of Scholastic Achievement, Leadership,<br />
Responsibility and Christian Social Consciousness, and thus have<br />
learned to personalize the College objectives. It is expected that this<br />
will be lived out in different individuals in different manners, and this<br />
is recognized at graduation by means of citations. Upon graduation,<br />
one Mother Mary Joseph awardee is chosen to deliver the Message<br />
to the Graduates.<br />
e. Non-Scholastic Honor<br />
A Loyalty Acknowledgment is given to graduates who have been<br />
continuously enrolled in Miriam College since the first grade.<br />
