First Steps is a program to help income eligible pregnant women get the health and social services they need to be a<br />

healthy mom and to have a healthy baby. Program services include medical coverage for mother and baby, free bus<br />

passes or Para transit to doctor visits, funding for childcare during doctor visits, free in-home education, counseling<br />

and support from a Public Health Nurse or Behavior Health Specialist, linkages to community resources, childbirth<br />

classes through Harrison Medical Center, WIC nutrition services through K.C.R. and free family planning up to 1<br />

year after the birth of the baby.<br />

Home health care company that will care for acute and chronically ill children and the child with long-term health<br />

care needs. Services are provided in the home by registered nurses, nursing assistants, occupational therapists and<br />

physical therapists. Cost: they accept private pay, private insurance and are Medicare/Medicaid certified.<br />

A comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facility (CORF) specializing in physical, occupational and<br />

speech/language therapy for those who have experienced a stroke, head injury or those who have a neuro disorder or<br />

anyone who may need Ortho rehabilitation.<br />
