Lately, due to global problem of desertification there is urgent need to diagnose the soil<br />

<strong>form</strong>ation within the desert zone as necessitated by a search of indicators of this adverse<br />

phenomenon, and soil indicators in particular. The study of zonality of desert soils in<br />

Mongolia allowed recognizing the following soil types – brown, pale-brown, graybrown<br />

and extreme arid ones (Evstifiev, 1976). The strongly saline soils are usually<br />

confined to paleogenic deposits of Cretaceous period (Pankova, 1992).<br />

The objective of this research is to study peculiar mineralogical composition of clay<br />

fractions and the specific features of micro-and sub-micromorphological fabric of desert<br />
