PEFC Uruguay, on the advice of UNIT, adopted the PEFCC’s Technical Document Annex 4 as the
system for CoC certification under the UFCS on 18 December 2009 (refer to GD01, GD02 and
SD09).

Documentation
UFCS documentation (refer to GD02) states that a validation audit of implementation
arrangements for UNIT 1151:2006 and UNIT 1152:2006 was undertaken by SGS in February 2009.
The SGS audit used UNIT 1151 (2006) and UNIT 1152 (2006) as reference. Results of the audit
are included in GD06.
Furthermore, GD02 states that Forestry Department of Faculty of Agronomy (University of
Uruguay) undertook a document and field audit of UNIT 1152: 2006. This work was undertaken
in March/April 2009.
The results of audit were available to STC-SFM prior to submission of the UFCS by PEFC Uruguay
to PEFCC.

Based on documentation presented during Field Visit it was observed that UNIT 1151 (2006) and
UNIT 1152 (2006) were subject to three pilot tests. These included the two pilot tests sighted
above, plus a third pilot audit by a consultant in May 2009 focusing on verification of
documentation and implementation arrangements for draft forest management standards. The
results of third audit were sighted during Field Visit.
The experiences learnt from three pilot tests were available and used by STC-SFM in
determining final edition of UNIT 1151: 2009 (refer to GD12) and UNIT 1152: 2009 (refer to
GD13).

Documentation
Minutes of STC-SFM deliberations during the second half of 2009 (electronically retained by
UNIT) demonstrate that STC-SFM incorporated the findings of pilot testing in the final approved
standard for sustainable forest management, namely UNIT 1151:2009 (GD12) and UNIT
