<strong>Wairarapa</strong> Joint Clinical Forum<br />

Background<br />

The <strong>Wairarapa</strong> Clinical Services Action Plan endorsed the view that that <strong>Wairarapa</strong> people will be<br />

served best by a single integrated system of local health services, spanning primary and secondary<br />

care.<br />

The plan identified that a joint clinical forum is needed to act as a key driver for system integration.<br />

Purpose and responsibilities<br />

The purpose of the Joint Clinical Forum is to support, advise, and monitor progress in implementing<br />

the <strong>Wairarapa</strong> Clinical Services Action Plan, with a particular focus on actions which enhance<br />

communication and collaboration between primary and secondary care clinicians.<br />

The objectives of the Joint Clinical Forum are to:<br />

Improve and maintain communication between clinicians across the primary-secondary<br />

spectrum<br />

Ensure the actions set out in the <strong>Wairarapa</strong> Clinical Services Action Plan are progressed<br />

Provide leadership in the development of new frameworks and concepts for health service<br />

delivery in <strong>Wairarapa</strong>.<br />

The Joint Clinical Forum has no executive authority.<br />

Composition<br />

The Joint Clinical Forum will be chaired by a Senior Clinician (Dr Tony Becker - GP). Forum<br />

membership will comprise clinicians from primary and secondary care.<br />

Members will promote the work of the Forum and encourage appropriate participation in related<br />

projects amongst their colleagues.<br />

Meeting schedule and processes<br />

The Joint Clinical Forum will meet once every two months. The Chair of the Joint Clinical Forum will<br />

report in writing quarterly to the respective Clinical Boards and CEOs of the DHB and <strong>PHO</strong>.<br />

Administrative support will be provided by the DHB<br />

3 GPs; Primary Care Nurse leader; Aged Care Nurse leader; Pharmacy Rep;<br />
