Business Studies
Overview
Two units for each of the Preliminary and HSC Year Board Developed Course.
Business Studies investigates the role, operation and management of businesses
within our society. Factors in the establishment, operation and management of a
small business are integral to this course. It fosters intellectual, social and moral
development by assisting students to think critically about the role of business and
its ethical responsibilities to society. Students develop research and independent
learning skills in addition to analytical and problem-solving competencies through
their studies.

Special
Requirements
In the Preliminary course there is a research project investigating the operation of a
small business or planning the establishment of a small business. Students will need
to develop an understanding of writing business reports using the language of the
course.

Homework
Information
Assessment consists of:-
Tests and internal exams, Research and analysis of case studies, Stimulus based
skills.
Homework is dominated by revision and thoroughly learning the terminology of the
course.
