In November, 1967, President McIntosh and
Vice President Boccabella met with Bernie
Hillenbrand, NACO Executive Director,
who agreed to print the NACE directory
which had been compiled by Dean Morgan
of the Automotive Safety Foundation,
distribute a NACE newsletter, and provide
a complementary suite for the NACE
President during Annual NACO Meetings.
ASF then agreed to assume the cost of mail
handling and postage. Hillenbrand, with the
backing of Frank Turner, Director of the
Bureau of Public Roads, convinced the BPR
to establish the NACE Board of Directors as
its advisory group of County Engineers. In
January, 1968, NACE published its first
newsletter to the membership.
1968 NACE Conference

The Eighth Annual NACE Management-Research Conference was held in Des Moines, Iowa, on
April 3-5, 1968, and drew the largest attendance of any previous Research Conference. Special
recognition was given to Past Presidents of NACE. The Research Committee reported on a meeting
they had with the Consultant and Director of the EDA project in Leflore County, Mississippi, where
procedures that were to be used in all four demonstration counties were outlined.
1968 NACO Conference
SAGE parecipated in the Annual NACO Conference in Washington. D.C., July 28-31. 1968 The
presentation of the Engineer of The Year Awards was made during the SAGE Membership Business
Meeting. The following recipients were duly honored:
