CHAPTER XXI
June, 1976 to July, 1977
President, Gordon Hays, Jr.

The new Board of Directors met for a breakfast meeting on June 29, 1976. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
President Hays called the meeting to order, took care of routine business matters and announced
some of his committee appointments. The Board engaged in an extended discussion about the
locations of future Management-Research Conferences. The Board approved a motion renaming the
spring conference “The NACE Transportation Management Conference’. The Board directed the
Executive Committee to find a new installer of NACE officers before the next annual meeting.
The Board met on November 16th in Birmingham, Alabama, in conjunction with a meeting of the
AASHTO-NACE-NACo Joint Committee which was held on November 17th. President Hays
announced that Past President (‘67) William D. McIntosh, Lassen County, California, would be the
new installer of NACE officers.
977 NACE Conference
The Annual Spring NACE Transportation
Management Conference was held in
Phoenix, Arizona, February 9-11, 1977.
The Board of Directors conducted a routine
business meeting and there was excellent
attendance at the technical sessions. Marian
Hankerd gave a thorough and complete
review of the status of NACoRF staff and
grants.
May 21, 1977, Milt Johnson testified before
the Senate Subcommittee on Transportation
in Ankeny, Iowa on “The Bridge
Deficiency Problem”.

NACo Conference in Detroit, Michigan, July 24-27. 1977
