President Smith convened a meeting <strong>of</strong> the new <strong>NACE</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Directors on July 25, 1973, in<br />
Dallas, Texas, <strong>NACE</strong> Secretary-Treasurer William G. Harrington reported to the Board <strong>of</strong> Directors<br />
a <strong>NACE</strong> checking account balance <strong>of</strong> $5,875.52. It was agreed that this was a big improvement in<br />
the financial stams <strong>of</strong> the organization, with only half <strong>of</strong> the dues having been collected for the 1974<br />
calendar year.<br />
1974 <strong>NACE</strong> Conference<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>NACE</strong> Management-Research Conference was held at<br />
Disney World in Orlando, Florith, February 20-22, 1974. <strong>The</strong><br />
conference technical sessions featured a number <strong>of</strong> excellent<br />
speakers and were very well attended by the delegates. During<br />
the Board <strong>of</strong> Directors meeting a discussion was held about the<br />
need to compile a History <strong>of</strong> <strong>NACE</strong>.<br />
1974 NACo Conference<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>NACE</strong> Annual Membership Business Meeting was<br />
conducted during the NACo Conference in Miami Beach,<br />
Florida, July 14 -17, 1974. Marion Hankerd reported that<br />
FHWA had agreed to pay up to $7,000.00 for the first printing<br />
<strong>of</strong> manuals. <strong>The</strong>se manuals are to be used at the FHWA funded<br />
workshops and any remaining manuals are to become the<br />
property <strong>of</strong> <strong>NACE</strong>.<br />

It was reported by President Smith that the <strong>NACE</strong> financial<br />
situation is improving, as there is a balance <strong>of</strong> $7,600.00 in the treasury as <strong>of</strong> June 30, 1974.<br />

WHEREAS, since the year 1936 DOur Snic” has made many outstanding<br />
conthbutions to the engineering pr<strong>of</strong>ession and has accomplished goals that are the<br />
