Previewing Activity: Lenses on the World
This activity helps to ground students in an understanding that each of us sees the world through
a set of lenses linked to who we are and what we have experienced. The purpose of the exercise
is to have students consider these lenses — and step beyond them — as they learn about the
worlds of others and the intricate threads of history that bind us to one another.
1. Have students create a diagram of circles as shown. Each student should write their name
in the centre and then fill in each circle with specific information about themselves.
