I EKPERIMENTAL -DATA. For the most part,.the experimental data are derived .from the average i of duplicate daily gummed, film samples analyzed as described in the section 90 on Procedure, .The monthly summaries of estimated Sr : deposition and in* m finity gamma dose make up the bulk of this report , but certain data have been extracted in this section to compare with more direct measurements or with other estimates * .The evaluations are separated into comparison of dup~ QO licate stations^ ,Srw data ;and gamma dose data., .There are certain oases J| where daily data are not available. .Since these may. enter into the evalua- » tions attempted^ they are described below * .During certain periods in 1955 and 1956>- the daily gummed film samples W were composited on a monthly basis for counting » The vpurpose of this com?- positing was not to reduce the .counting load but was an attempt to collect 1 90 sufficient gummed film ash to make a radidchemical analysis f or Sr m This 1 effort was not successful as it was found that the collection efficiency for QQ Sr^ was considerably poorer than the efficiency for the total mixed fission fl products , .This was later confirmed by/Welford^ ^ in. his measurements on New .York City samples ttr I The ccsnposite samples have been treated in the computation process as . though all activity. had been deposited on the 15th of the sailing; month* ^ ,This .should n0t lead td any. marked confutation errors since the /compositing waa only carried out cjiiring periods or ©at stations where local fallout was not expected? I_ to Justify a monthly summary* In the data tables.; we have arbitrarily, taken "* the repdrtijig Of less than 10 -days i& the m0>nth to.be .an insufficient sample* -As it is desirable ;to obtain am estimate of cumulative values f or with soil data and to approximate the total deposition where other data ;are j| lacking >: missing xi^mths have been filled in by geographic interpolation* In the arbitrary system selected^ the. three closest stations are averaged for * geographic interpolation with some weight being giveaa to the months JTnmediately before -and after the missing month* .These interpolated estimates are marked as . such in the supnaary tables for each station* I - Cffinparfts&n: of Duplicate Stations Since duplicate films were ^exposed daily at most of the network ^ stations^ there is a ccmsiderable body, af data, on paired saisples at the same location* A statistical treatment of the duplicates is planned as an exercise in mathematical statistics^ but this project will not be coiigslete A f
