Table 3.1 lays out notionally how manyU.S. government personnel could be deployed on a given operationunder different assumptions of the sizes of the deployable staff.For all cases, we have assumed that the United States will beinvolved in three simultaneous operations. The columns of the tablecorrespond to the frequency of individual deployments and identifythe number of personnel deployed per operation. The first column correspondsto a requirement for SSTR personnel to deploy one out ofevery three years, and the second for personnel to deploy one out ofevery five years. The rows correspond to different assumptions aboutthe composition and usage of reserves. Row 1 assumes that the U.S.government will not use reserves on routine deployments, and so doesnot count them as available for deployment.
