fundamental question of the workshop:What does ritual mean to us?summary of the action:Creating an immersive and inventive ritual, intervened into through theautobiographical rituals of each participant.movements:part i: immersive ritual1. blindness: All participants put blindfolds on for two hours straight.2. noisecracy: Ask each person to start making a sound with the first letter oftheir name. Capture with a microphone, attached to pedals, the noise emittedby the voices, returning the modified sound to the environment.3. autobiography: Make the participants walk about in the space tellingautobiographical stories using various nuances of sound; ask them to slowlyform a circle and to find a sentence that reflects the feeling that their storiesinvoke. Participants repeat each other’s sentences several times until they getexhausted and gradually grow silent, coming to rest on the floor.4. sharing: All the collectively produced sound is recorded by an itinerantportable microphone, passing from mouth to mouth as blindfolded participantsare uttering, and then played back to the still blindfolded group for about 30minutes. Calmly people take the blindfold from their eyes, stretch and standup.part ii: transvestism and photonovel6. mask and costume: The participants are invited to draw close to the elementsfrom the suitcase and those that were brought from home, both laid outon tables. They then move on to transvestism, the staging and creation ofcharacters.7. photonovel: All dressed up, the group heads to the centre of the roomto make images from the phrases previously produced by each of theparticipants. Those images and movements are now photographed to producea photonovel.82
