peak velocity is also occurring at the very end of the turn, which indicates that after theycross the wake they are still trying to accelerate the ski to allow them to get out farenough to the side of the boat. This in turn would affect the timing of their next turninitiation.Even though all the subjects were advanced slalom skiers the analysis proceduredeveloped in this study was successful in detecting differences in performance betweenthe skiers. Furthermore, the results were in agreement with what was expected based onthe success rate of each skier in the course. The skier with highest success rate did notalways achieve the highest resultant performance parameter however they were always inthe top grouping with respect to performance. For example, Subject 11 achieved thehighest success rate but only had the highest resultant in 6 of the 11 performanceparameters. They were however amongst the top three highest in 10 of the 11 parameters.Similarly, the two subjects with the lowest success rates were always in the lowergrouping with respect to performance. Subject 15 achieved the lowest success rate andhad the lowest resultant in 10 of the 11 performance parameters and was in the bottomtwo lowest in all 11 parameters. These results indicate that our analysis procedureappropriately assessed skier performance. It therefore could be used as tool for improvedanalysis of skier performance that could be implemented to increase coaching capabilitiesand product design. For all the results shown in Figure 5 - Figure 16 it was not seen that the highest peakalways led to the highest integral. This is expected since the profile shape plays a large107
