0 n October 24, after the1997 USPSA Limited Nationals,my wife, Denise,and I were the last onesto leave the banquet. As the nextday rolled around and the phonestarted ringing as people called tocongratulate me on my wins at thetwo USPSA Nationals, I had no ideaof what would transpire on October29.Denise was having some sorenessin her side, but after a completephysical in August failed to findanything wrong, she did not suspectthat it was anything severe. After afew more tests, though, the wordcame back, "I'm sorry to inform youthat you have liver cancer, and youhave about one year to live." As Ipicked her up off the floor, wecouldn't believe our ears. At 33, Icouldn't understand why this couldhappen to our family. After a couplemore days of tests, we thought wewould have a good six to eightmonths together, but a week laterA Note From Todd JarrettFrom Hero To ZeroDenise and Todd Jarrett spent sometime talking with friends atter the 1997Limited Nationals banquet.Denise's health started to deterioratefast. Thirty days after the diagnosis,a dark horse came riding intomy camp, and a part of me died thatday. At the age of 40, she had nochance to survive the breast cancerwhich had spread to her liver.On December 2, when my familyand I went in for the viewing, wecouldn't believe our eyes. Therewere flowers by the truckload. Afterthree hours of standing in one place,I stepped back to catch my breath.Wow! That was most of the shootingcommunity.As the days went by, more flowers,donations, phone calls, and hundredsof cards came in. There is noway I that I can contact each personand thank them. So I'm writing thisto say "thank you" for all yourprayers and thoughts during thistough time in my life.
