Sandbaggingis a topic that's on my mind. Ithink that all of the shooting sportswould profit if we all implementeda rule whereby a competitor whoshoots a sanctioned match wheretheir score is more than a single classhigher than their classification, willbe classified in the classification ofthat score on subsequent sanctionedmatches. Two sanctioned matcheswill have to be fired in the new clas-sification before the shooter will bereclassified by using the average ofthe last four sanctioned matches. This seems to protect most competitorsfrom the few shooters who riseto the occasion at importantmatches.Raymond Palmer, A-36866Former FFL HolderKeith Milberger's article "WhyCan't We All Just Get..." in the FebruaryIn Touch newsletter broughtto light just how successful theBATF's effort has been to eliminatethe "kitchen table top" FFL dealersin this country. He quotes a dropfrom 250,000 licensed dealers toonly 72,000 at present.I held an FFL for three yearswhile living in Virginia. I compliedwith all of the necessary paperwork, tax licenses (state and local), notifiedthe local chief of police of my intentto apply for an FFL, and was registeredwith the Virginia State Policeto do telephone background checks. At my three year review, the twoitems that the BATF faulted me onwere the type of zoning permit Ineeded to do business with from myhome, and the fact that I was "not inbusiness as a sole form of livelihood."When I was informed of the zoningproblem, I went to the countyzoning office and spoke directly tothe local director. He agreed that forthe small amount of business that Idid, I only needed the type of permitI already had.As to the fact that I was only supplementingmy income with theFFL, I wonder, would this mentalitynot also apply to the people who sell"Avon" and other similar products?Should they not be allowed to competewith the "full-time" establishments? This doesn't seem to be in the"American Way." Are firearms dealersany different from any other personwho wishes to "make a few extrabucks?"Needless to say, the BATF wouldnot budge on these issues, and I wasforced to surrender my license.I wonder how many times thisapproach has been used by theBATF? Quite a few, if the reductionin the number of dealers is accurate.Kenneth MacLeod, A-25226SciewiiicSCOPE MOUNTADVANTAGES• Low to the Barrel• Additional Strength• 351 T6 Aircraft Aluminum• lightweight (78 grm)• Ejection port clearancegreatly improved by offsetdesign.• Amazing one piece designincreases rigidity, thusincreases scope longevity.94bogrENTERPRISESDEALER INQUIRIESWELCOME!$1 00.00SHIPPINGFor Accuracy You DEMAND, and the Protection yourOptics DESERVEThis Year Shooters in the know will be switching to theSidewinder Scope Mount+ TAX &"Home of the Sidewinder Mount' 520-627-8264CUSTOM MOUNTING AVAILABLE, $50.00 STANDARD1911, $75.00 ON ALL OTHER MODELS.
