UTILITY• Using a ballpoint pen or similarobject, press and hold the recessedtransfer case N (Neutral) button forfour seconds, until the light next to theN symbol starts to blink, indicatingshift in progress. The light will stopblinking (stay on solid) when the shiftto N (Neutral) is complete. A “FOURWHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM IN NEUTRAL”message will display on the EVIC(Electronic Vehicle Information Center).• Start the engine and shift thetransmission into REVERSE.• Release the brake pedal for fiveseconds and ensure that there is novehicle movement.• Turn the engine off and firmly applythe parking brake.• Shift the transmission into PARK andremove the Key Fob.• Attach the vehicle to the tow vehicleusing a suitable tow bar and releasethe parking brake.NOTE: Vehicles equipped withQuadra-Lift must be lowered to the“Park” (lowest) level, and have automaticleveling disabled, before tying them down(from the body) on a trailer or a flatbedtruck. Refer to “Quadra-Lift” in“Off-Road Capabilities” for moreinformation. If the vehicle cannot belowered to the “Park” level (for example,engine will not run), tie-downs must befastened to the axles (not the body). Failureto follow these instructions may cause faultcodes to be set and/or loss of propertie-down tension.CAUTION!• Towing with the rear wheels on theground will cause severetransmission damage. Damagefrom improper towing is notcovered under the New VehicleLimited Warranty.• Front or rear wheel lifts should notbe used. Internal damage to thetransmission or transfer case willoccur if a front or rear wheel lift isused when recreational towing.• It is necessary to follow these stepsto be certain that the transfer caseis fully in NEUTRAL beforerecreational towing to preventdamage to internal parts.WARNING!You or others could be injured if youleave the vehicle unattended with thetransfer case in the NEUTRAL positionwithout first fully engaging theparking brake. The transfer caseNEUTRAL position disengages boththe front and rear driveshafts from thepowertrain and will allow the vehicleto move even if the transmission is inPARK. The parking brake shouldalways be applied when the driver isnot in the vehicle.62
