Abu Malik Al-­‐Ash`ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, “Wudu' is half of Salat, and the expression: `Subhaan-­‐Allah (“Allah is free from imperfection.”)' fills the Balance, and the expression: `Al-­‐hamdu lillah (“Praise be to Allah.”)' fills the space between the heavens and the earth.” (Muslim)Subhaanallaahi, walHamdu lillaahi, wa laa ilaaha illallaahu, wallaahu 'Akbar. “Glory is to Allah, and praise is to Allah, and there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Allah is the Most Great.” (Muslim, 4/2072) Remember, glorification (i.e. saying Subhaan-­‐Allah) means to honor Allah and make Him free from all that does not suit His Majesty. Praising (i.e. saying Al-­‐Hamdulillah) means affirming all kinds of perfection to Allah in His Names, Attributes, and Actions. Testification means sincerity and that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and freeing one from Shirk (association).
