Chapter 1Praise | .Praise Allah in the WayHe Deserves to be Praised“Verily, the Muslims (those who submit to Allah in Islam) men and women...and the men and the women who remember Allah much with their hearts and tongues. Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Jannah).” (Al-‘Ahzab, 33:35) Ath-Thanaa’It is necessary for us then that when we make our du’aa that we do so in the best possible way. We should endeavour to call on Allah in the best way and with the best manners. Praising Allah in the way He deserves to be praised is the starting point for a person making du’aa. Whilst Prophet Muhammad was sitting, a man came in and prayed and said, “O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me.” Prophet Muhammad heard him and said, “You have been too hasty, O worshipper. When you have prayed and are sitting, praise Allah as He deserves to be praised, and send blessings upon me, then call upon Him.” (At-Tirmidhi) Praising Allah the way he deserves to be praised essentially means recognizing His Oneness. He is the First, the Last, the Beginning, and the End. He Alone has the Power and the Strength. Recognize this and send blessings onProphet Muhammad , before beseeching Allah. 5“And the remembering (praising) of (you by) Allah (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising) of Allah in prayers.” (Al-‘Ankabut, 29:45) “And remember Allah much, that you may be successful.” (Al-Jumu’ah, 62:10) 5 http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/4005/viewall/- 7 -
