(Tirmidhi, Witr, Chapter: What is said regarding the excellence of invoking blessings uponthe Prophet, Hadith: 484) Note: “Nearest to me” signifies “those who are most entitled to my intercession.” 9 Thus, this Hadith has also an encouragement for very frequent recitation of Salaat on the Prophet . It was narrated from Husayn ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib that the Messenger of Allah said: “The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3546) and classed as Saheehby al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (1/35)) Note: “Miser” means to deny someone his right. If a Muslim does not supplicate for Prophet upon hearing his name, then such a person is a miser beyond doubt. 10 As-Salaat ‘Alaa An-NabiyyIt was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah said: “May his nose be rubbed in the dust, the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3545) and classedas Saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi) Thus, we learn that one must recite Salaat when he hears the name of the Prophet . It is sufficient to say (may Allah send His peace and blessings upon him) for this purpose. 11 The Excellence of Invoking BlessingsUpon the Prophet on FridayAus bin Aus (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, “Among the best of your days is Friday; so supplicate Allah more often for me in it, for your supplications will be displayed to me.” He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah! How will our blessings be displayed to you when your decayed body will have mixed with the earth?” He replied, “Allah has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Prophets.” (Abu Dawud) 9 Riyad-us-Saliheen10 Riyad-us-Saliheen11 Riyad-us-Saliheen- 23 -
