Chapter 7In Times of Distress | .Du’aa has unlimited power, it can change many things and it is an important act of worship that we must never lose faith in. Making du’aa demonstrates our great need for Allah and it recognises that He is able to do all things. He givesand He withholds but when we trust Allah completely we knowthat His decree is just and wise. Du’aa is the Weapon of the BelieverAl-Karb wal-Hamm“So We answered his call, and delivered him from the distress. And thus We do deliver the believers (who believe in the Oneness of Allah, abstain from evil and work righteousness).” (Al-‘Anbya’, 21:88) Prophet Yunus’s du’aa when he awoke in the belly of the whale: . “None has the right to be worshipped but You, far removed are You from every imperfection and truly I have been one of the wrongdoers!” (Al-‘Anbya’, 21:87)Prophet Ayub’s du’aa when distress touched him: “Verily, distress has seized me and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.” (Al-‘Anbya’, 21:83) . As believers, we must never forget that Allah hears our du’aas and supplications and answers. Sometimes, the wisdom behind the answers is beyond our comprehension but Allah desires only good for us. Putting our trust in Allah and submitting to His will allows the believer to weather any storm, and to stand tall in the face of adversity. We are never alone. “Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls on Him, and Who removes the evil?” (An-Naml, 27: 62) - 91 -
