Broadheads Reg. He enlisted at Hannahstown, Pennsylvania April or May1776. John was severely wounded in the battle <strong>of</strong> Long Island, discharged at Valley F<strong>org</strong>e in1777, and returned home late that year. He served several other times. John resided in Ohio formany years, then Switzerland <strong>Co</strong>unty Indiana, where he was living in 1818 in Jefferson Township.He was awarded a pension in 1831 based on his Revolutionary War service at age 71. She died on 20 Dec 1832in Switzerland <strong>Co</strong>., IN.Notes for Robert <strong>Gullion</strong>:Robert <strong>Gullion</strong> was born February 4, 1764 near Fort Frederick on the Potomac River. Around 1780or 1781, at the age <strong>of</strong> 16, he enlisted in a company <strong>of</strong> militia or rangers under Capt. Shearer <strong>of</strong>Westmoreland <strong>Co</strong>., PA. DAR records note that he was stationed at a blockhouse on the waters <strong>of</strong>Turtle Creek in PA for 90 days. In 1782, he marched against the Indians on the Ohio River under<strong>Co</strong>l. Wm. Crawford.Around 1785 he married Barbary, whose maiden name is unknown, in Washington <strong>Co</strong>., PA. Soonthereafter Robert's grandparents, father and maybe his mother, and his siblings, moved together toFayette <strong>Co</strong>., <strong>KY</strong>.In 1799, at 35 years <strong>of</strong> age, Robert settled at the mouth <strong>of</strong> Log Lick Creek in York Twp.,Switzerland <strong>Co</strong>., Indiana. In 1814 Robert was one <strong>of</strong> the first Grand Jurists in Switzerland <strong>Co</strong>.along with Stillwell Heady, another pioneer who had immigrated to <strong>KY</strong> from PA before moving tosaid county. Robert's son, Henry, married Stillwell's daughter, Charity about this time.In 1832 Barbary was buried in the <strong>Gullion</strong> Family Cemetery. Her tombstone inscription reads,"Barbary Gullian, <strong>Co</strong>nsort <strong>of</strong> Robert, d. Dec. 20, 1832, aged 67 years." In 1854 Robert died onJuly 10, 1854, "In the 89th year <strong>of</strong> his age."6
