Gullion:John served with brothers in Revolutionary War, Rifle Co. attached to 2nd Pennsylvania Reg.,Commanded by Col. Broadheads Reg. He enlisted at Hannahstown, Pennsylvania April or May1776. John was severely wounded in the battle of Long Island, discharged at Valley Forge in1777, and returned home late that year. He served several other times. John resided in Ohio formany years, then Switzerland County Indiana, where he was living in 1818 in Jefferson Township.He was awarded a pension in 1831 based on his Revolutionary War service at age 71. He alsoresided in Decatur County, Indiana.Notes for Catherine Elizabeth Riffle:Catherine's first husband was a Tanner. She had at least one child by her first marriage.John O. Around 1780or 1781, at the age of 16, he enlisted in a company of militia or rangers under Capt. Shearer ofWestmoreland Co., PA. DAR records note that he was stationed at a blockhouse on the waters ofTurtle Creek in PA for 90 days. In 1782, he marched against the Indians on the Ohio River underCol. Wm. Crawford.Around 1785 he married Barbary, whose maiden name is unknown, in Washington Co., PA. Soonthereafter Robert's grandparents, father and maybe his mother, and his siblings, moved together toFayette Co., KY.In 1799, at 35 years of age, Robert settled at the mouth of Log Lick Creek in York Twp.,Switzerland Co., Indiana. In 1814 Robert was one of the first Grand Jurists in Switzerland Co.along with Stillwell Heady, another pioneer who had immigrated to KY from PA before moving tosaid county. Robert's son, Henry, married Stillwell's daughter, Charity about this time.In 1832 Barbary was buried in the Gullion Family Cemetery. Her tombstone inscription reads,"Barbary Gullian, Consort of Robert, d. Dec. 20, 1832, aged 67 years." In 1854 Robert died onJuly 10, 1854, "In the 89th year of his age."6
