He finished fourth at the Yellow JacketInvitational in the 5000m run with a season-besttime of 15:20.27. In ‘04 he was named the Ohio ValleyConference Athlete-of-the-Week (9/9/04) afterwinning the Suwanee Invitational to open the season.He finished fourth on the team and 23rd overall atthe OVC Championship Meet for the Gamecocks.Prep: Yib ran for North Atlanta High School wherehe was a state runner-up as a senior.Personal: Yibeltal was born on December 1, 1984in Ethiopia. He has two older brothers and one oldersister.Nick MillerSenior - Distance5’10” - 158 lbs.Victoria, AustraliaScotch CollegeMajor: Journalism2005-06: Miller was granted a medical red shirt in crosscountry and track after battling injury during the 2005-06 season.2004-05: As a sophomore, Nick turned in his secondconsecutive impressive campaign as a Panther. Herepeated as an Atlantic Sun All-Conference crosscountryrunner, placing fifth at the championship meetin a time of 26:54. Overall, he was the Panthers’ topfinisher four times during the fall cross country season,and only finished out of the top-15 overall at thecompetitive Auburn Invitational, and at the NCAA SouthRegion Championships. Miller set a new PR at theGreater Louisville Classic, crossing the finish line ofthe 8K course in a time of 25:22. He also earned his firstA-Sun Runner of the Week honor in cross-country(second overall) by finishing fourth at Troy’s Coach “O”Invitational by covering the 5,000-meter course in 15:53.He was third at the <strong>Georgia</strong> Collegiate Championshipin Panthersville with a 25:23. Nick was fourth at theTroy <strong>State</strong> Invitational in 15:45. In the spring,Miller focused his attention on the shorter, middledistance events more so than he did as a freshman.Prep: In Australia, Miller was a state championin 800 meters (U-23 group) and was second andfourth his final two years in the Nationals whilerunning at Scotch College. His 800 meters bestwas 1:55 with a 3:55 in the 1500 meters. At the3,000-meter distance, Nick logged a best of 8:29.Personal: Nicholas was born on Sept. 4, 1984, inMelbourne, Australia. His father, Gary, works inthe horse racing industry and his mother, Andrea,is a secondary school teacher. Miller has threeolder sisters. He gets some of his running skillsfrom his father who also ran as a youth. He enjoysAustralian Rules football, rugby, soccer, whilefinding time to golf and ski. Nick is majoring injournalism.-9-
