<strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>State</strong> Cross-Country -Track & FieldJacob EnglishJunior - Jumps6’1” - 170 lbs.Atlanta, <strong>Georgia</strong>St. Pius X H.S.Major: Exercise Science2005-06: In his sophomore season, Jacob continued wherehe left off. Jacob soared 14.79 meters in the triple jump atthe Rod McCravy Memorial, placing first and qualifyingfor the IC4A Indoor Championships. Outdoors, Jacob rana personal-best time (11.22) in the 100-meter at the 49erClassic and the Seminole Invitational. At the CAA Track& Field Championship, Jacob landed at 14.02 meters fora fifth-place finish in the triple jump. Jacob also excelledin the classroom earning a spot on the Dean’s List and theAthletic Director’s Honor Roll both semsters. He receiveda Commissioner’s Academic Award for his hard work.2004-05: As a freshman, Jacob set a new <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>State</strong>record in the triple jump, recording a distance of 14.81meters at the Alabama relays in late March. He alsobecame just the second Panther male to earn Atlantic SunPersonal BestsIndoor 60: 7.20Outdoor 100: 11.22Triple Jump: 14.81mLong Jump: 6.35mAll-Conference honors in the triple jump by placing second(14.34m) at the conference championship meet. English alsoperformed well during the indoor season, winning the triple jumpat the ETSU Indoor Invitational, and also placing 11th in the 60-meter dash at the meet while running a season best time of 7.20.He placed seventh at the A-Sun Championship in the 100 meters,and ran his personal best time a week later (11.30) at the Spec TownsInvitational.Prep: English was a regional champion and state qualifier in thetriple jump as a senior in 2004. He also lettered in football andbasketball at St. Pius X, and earned recognition in the 2004 editionof “Who’s Who Among High School Students.”Personal: Jacob was born on February 25, 1986, in Atlanta. Heset a new personal-best time in the 8K at the GreaterLouisville Classic (25:22). Two weeks later, Jaythen broke his PR again with a time of 24:52 at theAuburn Invitational. At the NCAA Regional, Jayran a personal-best time of 32:22 in the 10K,crossing the finish line in 44 th place. Jay received aCommissioner’s Athletic Award from the CAA andwas listed on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll inthe fall semster at <strong>State</strong> for his schoolwork.2004-05: As a freshman, Jay made significantcontributions to both the cross country and trackprograms. In the fall, he was named the conferenceFreshman of the Year in cross-country afterfinishing fourth at the Atlantic Sun Championshipmeet in Nashville. Morrill also finished in the top-10 at Troy’s Coach “O” Invitational, crossing the5K course in 16:12. His best 8K time of the seasonwas 25:48, run at the Greater Louisville Classic. Intrack, Jay placed fourth at the ETSU IndoorInvitational in the 3000 meters. He placed seventh inthe 5000 meters at the A-Sun Championship meetduring the outdoor season, and ran a season best timeof 15:15.51 in the event at the Florida <strong>State</strong> Opener.Prep: Morrill was a two-time OFSAA cross-countrychampion. He won an impressive 22 of the 24 crosscountryraces he entered while competing for theFighting Owls of Collingwood. In track, he finishedin the top 10 at the OFSAA championships four times.Morrill was also a part of the South Simcoe Dufferinclub team that won gold medals at the 2001 and 2002Canadian Junior Nationals.Personal: Jay was born on April 11, 1986, inCollingwood, Ontario.
