Student memberships include:• access and use <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Western</strong> StudentRecreation Centre• a wide variety <strong>of</strong> aerobic fitness classes• fitness/lane swims, recreational swimsand aqua fitness• drop-in gymnasia activities such asbasketball, badminton, volleyball, futsal• squash court use and reservations• use <strong>of</strong> the 19,000 square feet <strong>of</strong> weightand cardio spaceMembers also include preferred rates for:• Intramural Sports League programs• Instructional programs in aquatics, dance,mind-body fitness• 15+ Recreational Sports Clubs• Wellness services such as personaltraining and massage therapy• Locker and towel services<strong>Western</strong> Student Recreation CentreThe <strong>Western</strong> Student Recreation Centre is thehome <strong>of</strong> Campus Recreation operations and thehub <strong>of</strong> activity for all students and members <strong>of</strong>the <strong>Western</strong> community. Since opening its doorsin January 2009, the <strong>Western</strong> Student RecreationCentre has in excess <strong>of</strong> 3,500 visits a day duringthe academic year. A source <strong>of</strong> student pride andleadership, the centre was a result <strong>of</strong> studentsupport towards the capital and occupancy costs<strong>of</strong> the new centre, representing one <strong>of</strong> the largeststudent gifts <strong>of</strong> its kind in Canada. The close to160,000 sq. ft. facility includes:• 5 gymnasia (3 hardwood court, 2 multipurposerubber floors)• 5 squash courts• 50 metre, 8-lane pool with two bulkheads• 3 multi-purpose hardwood studio spaces• 19,000 sq. ft. <strong>of</strong> weight and cardio space• Lounge space with WiFi, televisions andtable tennis areaIntramural Sports ProgramsCampus Recreations boasts one <strong>of</strong> thelargest intramural programs in Canada. A fullrange <strong>of</strong> options from the strictly recreationalto the very competitive levels exist innumerous sports allowing <strong>Western</strong> studentsto benefit from some <strong>of</strong> the best experiencesin student life. Participation in IntramuralSports leagues, whether you sign up as ateam or as a “free agent” individual, is agreat way to meet new people, learn orrefine skills, stay active and be involvedin Campus Life. Many student leadershipopportunities also exist through <strong>of</strong>ficiatingand league management.AquaticsCampus Recreation <strong>of</strong>fers a diverse, safe,and active aquatics program for participants <strong>of</strong>all ages and abilities. A CampusRecreation Sports Club is a sanctionedorganization established by students thatprovides a terrific opportunity for allCampus Recreation members to participatein a specific sport or physical activity.Sports Clubs are voluntary and enhancethe <strong>University</strong> experience, emphasizingsocialization, instruction and skilldevelopment as well as student leadershipand competition.EmploymentStudents truly are the lifeblood <strong>of</strong> therecreation experiences at <strong>Western</strong>.
